The presentation features high level detail, in a blend of dialog, sound effects, bass and music. The DTS-HD 5.1 MA soundtrack is well articulated with crystal clear rendering across the board. Predominantly images are lucid, which results in a refined presentation that looks great. Grain is present, appearing a bit uneven at times, but I saw no signs of tampering. Detail in dark backgrounds and low lighting is estimable. Strong contrast delivers punchy blacks and crisp, bright whites. The gradational stages enhance perspective and at times provide realistic dimension. Sepia and gray are used in various stages in both objects and backgrounds. Colors utilize a limited and softer palette that is most decidedly a stylistic choice that mates well with the source in a satisfying way. The shading and lighting used results in a soft glowing aesthetic that gives the video variable depth which can be scene dependent, but never detracts from the quality of the presentation. Ghost in the shell offers beautifully crafted Japanese anime. This is a solid video presentation that boasts visually enticing imagery that appears faithful to the source.
